Hi, I’m Shannon.

I am a Licensed MFT specializing in complex trauma.

My Approach

Relational & Authentic

Non-Judgmental

Value for Social Justice

Trauma Trained & Informed

Not Just Talk Therapy

I believe healing comes through relationship. I am genuine and authentic with my clients. I create a therapeutic space where you feel safe and cared for. I also believe that every behavior is trying to achieve something helpful and that we are good at our core. I provide a non-judgmental space where all of your feelings, including your resistance, are welcome. I work with you where you are at and at your pace.

I offer more than just talk therapy. I use two evidence-based modalities to address underlying trauma: Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR) and Internal Family Systems (IFS). These two approaches address the traumatic roots of symptoms and behaviors.

I teach communication, self-advocacy, and boundary setting skills to help clients achieve healthier and more fulfilling relationships. I also offer reparenting techniques and coaching for parents who are struggling to break generational cycles.

While I have experience working with people of many different backgrounds, I approach every person with a learning posture. I acknowledge I come from a position of privilege and approach my work with a growth mindset. We are never done growing and learning in this lifetime.

I began as a therapist at the YWCA Silicon Valley, an agency dedicated to Eliminating Racism, Empowering Women. My work there focused on social justice, trauma, and victims of violent crimes including sexual assault and domestic violence. Through the YWCA I worked at a Domestic Violence shelter. I also spent a year working at an elementary and middle school.

I later joined Mindful Child and Family Therapy (MCAFT), a group private practice with a focus on children, teens, and parent coaching.

I have specialized training in EMDR & Internal Family Systems (IFS) as well as trainings in complex trauma with Colleen West, Joanne Twombly, and Pamela Rosin. I have training in Hand in Hand Parenting. I’m also a fan of Dr. Becky and follow her curriculum.

I have a Masters in Counseling Psychology from Santa Clara University and I am a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist in California.

Experience & Education

On a Personal Note

I believe in therapy because it has greatly improved my own life. I have greatly benefited from the tools I offer. I am also the parent of a deeply feeling child and understand the challenges that brings.

When I am not working or parenting, I love to tinker with house projects and fantasize about interior design. I also love to travel and spend time on the coast. I live in Berkeley with my family and our dog, Jackson, who occasionally makes guest appearances on virtual sessions.
