Change Begins with Small Steps

Therapy for
Depression & Anxiety

These are the two most common reasons people seek out therapy. What many people may not know is that there is often underlying, unresolved trauma at the root of their symptoms. An episode of depression or anxiety can be triggered by an external stressor (like a major life transition or work stress) while simultaneously activating past traumas outside of your conscious awareness. It’s critical to address both what’s happening in the present and what happened in the past.

Trauma Therapy

Trauma comes in all different forms. There are big acute traumas and small traumas that add up over time, like 1,000 paper cuts. Trauma often shows up in our bodies as anxiety and depression. You may be experiencing a disconnect from your sense of self or feeling fragmented. I utilize specialized tools — EMDR and Internal Family Systems (IFS) — to help you process the trauma and its impact.

Trauma is not just the event that happens to someone, but the lasting impact it leaves on their mind and emotions.

Reparenting

Do you feel completely lost as a parent? Are you triggered by your children? Do you have a vision of how parenting should be but you feel like you fall short all the time? Maybe you even feel like a failure when it comes to parenting, leaving you with feelings of shame and guilt.

Parenting is really hard on its own. It’s even harder when you are getting triggered by your own childhood trauma and trying to break generational cycles. Maybe you’ve even tried parent coaching in the past but you can’t apply what you have learned.

I offer a compassionate, non-judgmental space for you to process your parenting, the roots of your triggers, and I equip you with resources and tools to help you become the parent you want to be.

Healthy Relationships

Are you repeating the same dysfunctional pattern in your relationships? Are you recovering from a toxic relationship? Do you struggle to say no? Do you struggle with trusting others? Do you want healthy and fulfilling relationships but feel stuck?

Trauma impacts the way you relate to and connect with other people. Strategies that helped you in your childhood may be negatively impacting you as an adult. I address the traumatic roots of these dynamics and teach relational skills to help you build the relationships you want.
